Sun. Nov. 29th West Bend Christmas parade

You are invited to participate in the West Bend Holiday/Christmas Parade with the theme:
“There’s No Place Like Home for Christmas”
It will be held Sunday, November 29, 2009 starting at 5 pm. The float has already been constructed, and you would just be accompanying it. The thrust of the float is to "Bring 'Em Home!" Contact Brian Bunzel (338-7945) or Clark Blomquist

"Afghanistan: Why We Need to Leave."

We have the opportunity to hear an outstanding speaker on the Afghanistan situation. Phyllis Bennis, fellow at the Institute for Policy Studies in Washington, D.C., will speak on the topic "8 Years in Afghanistan: Why We Need to Leave." Marilyn Raschka and Sara and Bud Hudson will be going and would be happy to coordinate car-pooling for those interested. WHO SPEAKS FOR ISLAM?

Who Speaks for Islam?
The Institute of World Affairs joins with the US Center for Citizen Diplomacy to present the findings of a multi-year, 35-country study that challenges perceptions about attitudes in the Muslim world. The program features study co-author, Dalia Mogahed, Senior Analyst and Executive Director of the Gallup Center for Muslim Studies, Washington D.C. This event will be held on October 19, 2009 from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm at the Hefter Conference Center. The Hefter Conference Center is located at 3271 N. Lake Dr., Milwaukee,WI 53211. Peace Seeker Suggestions

If you haven’t already, you must really check out this wonderful video "PEACE PLEASE" at the link (http://www.peaceplease.com/UN-PALL.html) which links in with the United Nations meeting.

There will be a lecture which in honor of Matt Zillig on Wednesday, October 14th at 7 p.m. in Room 228 at UWWC, 400 University Drive, West Bend. Admission is free and open to all. The purpose is to promote Matt’s appreciation of cultural diversity and his respect and compassion for all people. The speaker will be Dr. Daniel Taylor, Professor Emeritus at Lawrence University. His topic will be The Ancient Olympics. A wine and cheese social time will follow the lecture.

Christian Peacemaker Team Speaker

This Sunday, June 28, there will be a CPT speaker in our area. Carol Rose, Co-Director of Christian Peacemaker Teams will be speaking on "Deep Roots, Peace Fruits: Spirituality and Biblical Grounding for Active Peacemaking." The wonderful get-together will be at the Milwaukee Mennonite Church, 9235 W. Bluemound Rd. in Milwaukee. 4:00 PM Main presentation during afternoon worship

We have scheduled another Peace Seekers letter writing meeting, preceded by our usual amiable and delicious, balanced and nutritious potluck on May 9, 2009, at Trinity Lutheran Church (West Bend), immediately following the second Saturday Stand for Peace on the corner near Hobby Lobby in West Bend.
Come in the church door on the alley, straight ahead and to the left to the Heritage Room.
