The Peace Seekers of Washington County

Peace Seekers of Washington County is one of many co-sponsors for this program.

The conference will feature a one hour panel/Q&A session moderated by Jack Murtaugh, who has extensive experience as a moderator with 4th Street Forum. Panelists will examine forms of violence in our society and strategies for interrupting the culture of violence at home and abroad. Confirmed panelists will be:

- Ramon Candelaria, Community Director of Medical College of Wisconsin's Violence Prevention Initiative, working on youth violence prevention and developing neighborhood resources to prevent violence

- Tio Hardiman, Director of CeaseFire Illinois , who was featured in the award-winning documentary film "The Interrupters"

- Patrick Kennerly, Associate Director of Marquette Center for Peace-Making who has worked with Afghani youth and local youth using non-violent techniques

- Barb Notestein, Executive Director of Safe & Sound, an award-winning model for neighborhood crime reduction and safe alternatives for youth.

The conference will also feature small group discussions on how violence affects us personally and a choice of a one hour workshop.

Each of the panelists will offer a workshop which stresses their particular program for ending violence. Additionally, Phyllis Lardinois coordinator of Guidance and Counseling Waukesha School System will present an anti-bullying workshop.
